PICTURE BERLIN’s International Festival celebrates 5 years

–
PICTURE BERLIN founded in 2009, and now in its 5th year, is a 6 week summer program designed by artists for emerging artists working in contemporary art and photography. Every summer the dynamic programming offers over 20 lectures by Berlin based artists, one-on-one discussions with over 10 international artists and curators, multiple exhibitions, group meals and work reviews, studio visits, a curatorial marathon, and 6 choreographed artist walks. The city shapes the program and is the springboard that naturally flows into the greater European art scene. As we mark the 5th year, the 2014 Summer Session will culminate with the PICTURE BERLIN Festival.

The exciting PICTURE BERLIN Festival will celebrate our 2010–2014 PICTURE BERLIN alumni artists and the local arts community. The 9 August – 23 August 2 week Festival will feature wide ranging events from exhibitions, artist talks, portfolio reviews and reviews by curators, networking opportunities–bringing our international PICTURE BERLIN community back home to Berlin and also including the active community in Berlin as well.

We developed the campaign to raise funding for the costs of the Festival. The money raised will pay for;

    shipping and returning the art works from the participating artists
    renting the exhibition space
    renting equipment for the exhibition
    hiring a team of curators to do portfolio reviews
    honorariums for artist talks
    curatorial fees
    catalogue design which also includes professional photographs of the exhibition installation
    and promoting the Festival!

We have put together a very unique group of rewards (see some of the images below!) which include not only some amazing works and publications but also incredible experiences for those supporters who find themselves in Berlin or coming through Berlin soon. We hope that you will be willing to support us and this amazing event! Thank you in advance for taking the time to check out our campaign and hopefully you feel compelled to be a part the festival by way of your contribution!

straybooks
Straybooks – the new London Independent Photozine and Book Fair – will be held on 14-15 June 2014 at Red Gallery in Shoreditch, London.

Straybooks is organised by AkinaBooks to host the 49th and final stop of the 2014 European tour of ZINES OF THE ZONE, a nomadic photozine and book library that is traveling the four corners of Europe to discover obscure titles and bring them forward to a bigger audience.

It will be a place to discover new publications but also to share and show your own.

Their open call for photo zinesters and self-publishers just started – so if you want your work to be shown at Straybooks and become part of the Zines of the Zone travelling library, have a look at their web page with all the details:
